Most of us think of ExxonMobil as a company that produces oil and natural gas. However, beyond that, this worldwide corporation has scientists and engineers who are busy at work in many different areas, such as ways to help cars run more efficiently and cleanly, with hydrogen, for example. One break-through technology is called on-board reforming. It would facilitate the conversion of today's fuels- like gasoline, diesel and ethanol--into hydrogen on board your vehicle. Currently, ExxonMobil estimates this technology could result in 80 percent better fuel economy while, at the same time, improving emissions by 45 percent over today's vehicle measures.

"Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are much more efficient than today's cars. And, with on-board reforming technology, we don't need to create a huge new infrastructure for hydrogen production, distribution and storage," said engineer Baudouin Kelecom, a spokesperson for ExxonMobil.
